When I say illegal items, I mean in-character illegal. So like, we could RP sugar is cocaine or something. (Drug farms++) TNT etc. Anything else anyone can think of?
Obviously, items like TNT are going to be banned. Personally, I feel everything above a iron weapon should be banned - giving a risk to items such as gold/diamond, etc. I would personally like to see lapus lazuri roleplayed as a drug, because sugar has cooking & construction uses. Lapus Lazuri (to my knowledge) doesn't really have that much use and could have a valuable drug. However, maybe wheat or another plant could be put as a drug - who knows?
I mean, who's going to spend their time making cakes? With sugar you can grow it in a "drug farm", where as lapus... And wheat is, I feel, used more than sugar.
True, true. I was thinking of food because of the new hunger system in 1.8. - You have to eat food now, it's why I said not to include sugar. I'm all for illegal items though.
Actually, a better idea: Cake could be the drug and sugar could be a key ingredient in the "drug". I'm sure there'll be other, easier ways of obtaining food, anyway.
True. If the development team could work out a way of doing it, could get some hazy effects by eating specific items. I'm not too sure about what can exactly be done with a Minecraft server.
We're roleplaying in medieval times here. Weapons weren't illegal in that time, nor there were people who actually enforced weapon laws if there were any - Correct me if I'm wrong.
AFAIK and IMO, we aren't strictly "medieval." There are, and will be variances -- point in case, Minecarts; Redstone didn't exist period but will be used, etc.
We shouldn't "RP" an actual time period. By not doing so we won't have to conform to historical facts and we'd have the freedom to do what we want (like RPing drugs, electricity, etc.).
Meeeeeeeeeeh.... In my opinion that would kind weird and non-realistic..I mean you would have medieval Barbarians fighting with Knights in one part of town and you would have Drug dealers and Some guy watching TV on the other part. In my opinion it would ruin the atmosphere. Sure, sure the game is far from realistic with the nether and all of that. But still, I think we should take into account some of these things. It's gonna be a hybrid timeline, but hybrid as in Late Middle -> Early modern not Late Middle -> Present.
I agree that there should be a certain time which we're living in so we can easily determine which is considered 'rp' and whatnot, since some things are realistic in a specific time, but 100 years later it wouldn't be. Or perhaps the opposite.
Well obviously there's not going to be anyone "watching TV". Electricity as in electricity available in-game, like light-switches, door opening mechanisms; not TVs, computers, space crafts and shit. There should be no SET time period, but generalise it around that sort of time.
Considering what's currently in Minecraft: Wood, Coal, Redstone etc., it almost tells us the kind of time period it possibly could be based in, it just depends on our personal interpretation of it. With those kind of items within Minecraft, it certainly gives off a Fantasy vibe, especially with some of the new items being introduced within 1.9 (enchanted table, potions), so it also allows us to interpret a time period which isn't too modern. So maybe the drugs won't have such a presence and impact within the roleplay?
There will not be any ''illegal items'' due to the severity of it. Too much to alter, would personally do it but the code isn't released to the public...yet. Won't lock/archive it. Keep the discussions going.
There doesn't have to be any changes to the script. Cake, for instance, gives a lot of health. There doesn't really need to be any other benefit; I just thought it'd bring a new type of RP to the server.
I don't think redstone switches should be RPed as electric mechanicsms. As for the drugs, well sure but I don't think back then anyone would mind that.. (btw I'm one of those that are pro-realistic RP guys)
